Where nutraceuticals work, ensuring prevention
and treating wellness disorders
HOW CAN NUTRACEUTICALS HELP?
It is now known, even at a scientific level, that the number of benefits that nutraceuticals offer consumers is very wide: from the prevention of cardiovascular and degenerative diseases, to the maintenance of health, the strengthening of the immune system and normal intestinal function, as well as beneficial actions in the field of aesthetics and sports. The use of nutraceutical supplements provides support to the body, enhancing its functioning in a natural way, without the introduction of foreign substances and without side effects.
M.C. Byocare brand nutraceuticals are the result of careful analysis in order to create quality formulations that act with positive effects on health, prevention and treatment of disease. In particular, they work to combat certain diseases such as hypercholesterolemia, cognitive decline and arthrosis, thus helping to keep cholesterolemia within recommended levels, ensuring greater concentration and better memory for study, slowing the process of deterioration or damage to cartilage, combating venous and lymphatic insufficiency, and helping the regular function of the cardiovascular system.
ATHEROSCLEROSIS
Hypercholesterolaemia indicates an excess of cholesterol in the blood due to the interaction between genetic inheritance and environmental factors.
Cholesterol is transported in the blood by LDL and HDL lipoproteins. LDL deposits cholesterol on the walls of the arteries, while HDL removes it.
LDL is commonly known as “bad cholesterol” because, when present in excessive amounts, it tends to deposit on the walls of the arteries, causing them to progressively thicken and harden. This process, called atherosclerosis, can lead over time to the formation of plaques that impede blood flow or even block it altogether.
The effects become apparent after years of ‘abuse’. That is why it is always advisable to check cholesterol levels with a blood test and to prevent hypercholesterolemia through proper diet, physical activity, a healthy lifestyle and, in advanced cases, with nutraceuticals, supplements or medication.
COGNITIVE DECLINE
Il declino cognitivo è un deterioramento delle capacità intellettive, dell’apprendimento e Cognitive decline is a deterioration of intellectual capacity, learning and memory, often associated with behavioural changes.
There are different forms of dementia, all resulting from brain damage that can occur acutely or accumulate gradually over decades and begin to become apparent when a certain ‘threshold’ is exceeded, beyond which healthy parts of the brain are no longer able to compensate for the cognitive functions lost due to the lesions.
There are no specific treatments available to counteract mild cognitive decline, but risk factors can be addressed and their negative impact reduced through good lifestyle rules such as a balanced diet, regular physical activity, low alcohol intake, no smoking, weight control, mental training exercises and targeted therapies.
A number of studies conducted in recent years have suggested that supplementation with ginkgo biloba, vitamin E or other antioxidants, omega-3 and vitamin D may have a protective effect on brain function.
ARTROSIS
Osteoarthritis is a progressive degenerative disease that affects most joints in the human body, particularly the hip and knee. It is due to changes in the joint cartilage, which, over the years, wears down, creating severe friction within the joint, leading to considerable pain, swelling and loss of movement.
The initial stage of osteoarthritis is chondropathy, i.e. suffering of the cartilage due to wear and tear or previous trauma. The last stage of osteoarthritis is the complete disappearance of cartilage, which is accompanied by deformity, joint stiffness and sometimes swelling.
The most common non-surgical treatments at present are pharmacological or physiotherapeutic, aimed at reducing joint inflammation and maintaining movement. The most effective treatments are corticosteroids or hyaluronic acid.
